General FAQs
Who is AASRA?
AASRA, the Australian Automotive Service and Repair Authority, bridges the gap between car companies and independent repairers. They ensure repairers have access to vital information like service manuals and diagnostics, ultimately benefiting both car owners and the industry. Though new, AASRA plays a key role in promoting competition and fairness in Australian automotive repair.
What is the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme Act 2021?
Launched in 2022, the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme mandates carmakers share repair info with independent mechanics and training institutions. This levels the playing field, potentially lowers costs for consumers, and boosts training based on official information. Check out the ACCC and AASRA websites for more details.
